It may be coming up this year or it might be a while away yet – but it will come around quicker than you know it. We’ve put together some top tips to make your graduation day the best it can be.
Get someone else to measure yourself up. It’s a lot easier if you get someone else to measure you and use a tape measure. Make sure you know which faculty you’ll be graduating under. You’re probably best to e-mail your department to find out.
If you want to order photos you should scroll right to the bottom of the price list as there will be options to buy the photos without the frames – bargain!
You are guaranteed two tickets for the hall, but there’s usually extra tickets you can claim closer to the date so keep an eye out on the lead up to the day. Know what time and day your ceremony is and what time you need to be there to collect your gown, although it may seem like you are asked to get there early, it’s good to give yourself plenty of time to collect the gown and get ready rather than having a mad rush – the last thing you want is to be running into the hall last minute!
Take hair grips for your hat and a safety pin for your gown so you can adjust it yourself!
Take loads of photos and videos. The day will go so quickly so take as many photos with as many friends as you can. Depending on what your next steps are this could be the last time you see people for a while so definitely want to make the most of it!
Make the most of this day with your family and friends. Get them to take you out for dinner and then out for drinks after. Make a big deal out of it, because unless you’re coming back for further study this could be the only time that you graduate and you need to make the most of it with all the people you love.
It’s a great day for celebrating and it’s a chance to see your friends your might have not seen in a while. It’s a once in a lifetime day that you can share with special people in your life. Enjoy it!
